National RCRA Permitting Priorities
The national RCRA permitting priorities are issues identified by EPA’s RCRA permit integrity team through periodic collaboration with EPA regions, states, and territories. The goal is to identify, prioritize, and resolve any issues impacting RCRA permitting. New priority issues are selected every two years. As of January 2023, the team has completed six priorities, and the current list of priorities is:
- Environmental justice,
- Five-year review of land disposal facilities,
- Hazardous waste determinations,
- Optimize permit modification process,
- Periodic certification of tank systems,
- Permitting updates rule,
- Post-closure care implementation,
- RCRA model permit, and
- Timely renewal applications.
Additional information on each of the current and completed priorities can be found on EPA’s website.
