Generators must inspect their hazardous waste container storage areas weekly per §§262.16(b)(2)(iv) and 262.17(a)(1)(v).

However, this doesn’t include satellite accumulation areas, and “weekly” is not defined in the regs. Check with your state to see if it has a policy—as many require container inspection at least once every seven days.

To help you save time, use one of McCoy’s inspection checklists. You’ll find checklists for small quantity and large quantity generators to document your inspections. These checklists were developed by EPA, and we updated them for the 2016 generator improvements rule.
